Like a lot of hand-stamped "mystery" labels, Baroc don't say much about their releases. Helpfully, debutant Paperwork is a man of few words, too. Regardless, this EP - limited edition, naturally, and bundled with a typically arty postcard - is rather good. "Track 1" kicks things off, layering spacey, Motor City chords and gentle acid lines over a robust, cymbal-heavy techno rhythm. Paperwork goes deeper on "Track 2", where sludgy beats and dusty cymbals provide the perfect backing for dreamy chords and alien melodies. Finally, "Track 3" delivers an enticing blend of far-out, filter-heavy electronics, tumbling tunefulness and dense, locked-in rhythms.
